Culture-Inspired Travel

One of the most intriguing parts of travel is the ability to experience life outside of our own bubble and frame of reference. Our featured Goddess Christina is a nurse who has recently caught the travel bug. She has sought out group travel experiences with other nurses and shares about her most recent trip. Read more about her approach to traveling to experience other cultures in our interview below.

What was your most recent trip? What did you do?

My most recent trip was a wellness retreat created for healthcare providers in Cusco, Peru. The trip consisted of participating in traditional Peruvian ceremonies, practicing mindfulness, gratitude, and connecting with Mother Earth. We also hiked to Machu Picchu, visited an alpaca wool factory, and explored the nearby cities.

What was your favorite part of the trip?

My favorite part of the trip was learning about the special relationship the Peruvian people have with Pachamama (Mother Earth). I also loved being a part of a group of strangers who quickly became close friends.

What are your must-haves when you pack for a trip?

Must haves for a trip is anything that can make those long flights more tolerable (eye mask, ear plugs, sleep meds). I like having a piece of home like a small blanket.

How do you decide what clothing/accessories to pack?

I like to look up packing recommendations from people who have visited the area on google, Pinterest, and TikTok. If the weather varies a lot, layers are a must. Comfortable walking shoes that can go with casual outfits or dressy outfits. I always wear my divine feminine necklace on every trip because it reminds me to stay grounded and present in the moment.
