Albuquerque local Cecilia included Desert Goddess Jewelry in curated bridal bundles that she gifted her bridesmaids! She gifted jewelry pieces to her bridesmaids which doubled as wedding accessories for the day of. I asked her about her experience in creating such thoughtful gifts for her wedding party and advice she would give to others who are doing the same thing!

How did you decide which vendors you wanted to
highlight in your bridal bundles? I basically chose brands that I love and
gifts that I myself would be excited to receive. I also chose to purchase from
small businesses from New Mexico as well as some of my favorite Indigenous
owned businesses. I think it’s important to shop local and to support our local entrepreneurs and artisans.The local New Mexico brands that I chose to include in my bridesmaids gifts were Bison Star Naturals lavender lotion, Frybread Cosmetics “Mutton grease” lip balm, Prados beauty lipstick, and Desert Goddess Earrings.
What was the importance of curating gifts for your
bridesmaids? I have always liked putting gift bags together and I think
gift giving is one of my love languages. I wanted to put a cute gift together
for my bridesmaids to open the day of my wedding when they were getting ready.
In addition to the local brands I also included some cute PJs and socks for
getting ready. I know it was “my day” but I wanted to make getting ready
together a fun and special experience for them too. I also wanted to provide
gifts to them that they would actually use and would remind them of the
occasion. Some of the things I included were practical like the lotion and lip
balm, but I also wanted to include and nice keepsake for them to wear on the
wedding day and that they could continue to wear and use for years to come.
That is why I chose to include Desert Goddess earrings - now every time my
bridesmaids wear those earrings they will be reminded of our friendship and
sharing my special day with me.
What role did you want your bridesmaids to play in your
wedding? I honestly chose my closest friends who each played their own
special and significant roles in my life during my single and dating years. As
I searched for “my future forever” each of my bridesmaids provided special
friendship, love, and support to me in different ways long before I even knew
who I was going to marry. I did not choose my bridesmaids with the expectation that they would have to play a certain role in the wedding (other than showing up and wearing a burgundy dress) I chose them because they played important roles in my life in many significant ways before I even met my husband.
What was their reaction to their bundles? They loved their bundles! Each of them immediately changed into their pjs and socks because I gave them their gifts the morning of the wedding. They also loved their Desert Goddess earrings which they
wore to the ceremony and reception. I chose different styles for each bridesmaid based on their likes and personalities and they all loved and appreciated that their earrings were cohesive but also unique to each of them.
Do you have any tips for other couples planning their weddings/ creating bundles for their bridesmaids? My biggest tip would be to buy local and support small brands as much as you can. Also consider giving gifts that your bridal party will actually use for occasions or daily use, other than just for the wedding day. Give them something that they can use like chapstick, lotion, etc. or a nice keepsake instead of just buying the basic and cheap “bridesmaid” gear that will most likely end up being stored in a cupboard or taken to Savers. Also do not feel pressure to have to get your bridal party gifts. I did so because I wanted to, it’s one of my love languages, and I wanted my bridesmaids to wear Desert Goddess jewelry for the wedding. Since they already bought their own dresses, I decided to buy their jewelry. At the end of the day it’s your special day so focus on YOUR priorities and don’t worry about what anyone else has done for their wedding or what Instagram reels are telling you to do -prioritize what’s important to you and your spouse to be!
